Reports came out earlier in the week that Real Madrid soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo donated millions of dollars to charity. That charity denied that report Thursday.

Everyone knows how big of an impact Cristiano Ronaldo has had on the game of soccer. Besides Lionel Messi, Ronaldo is likely the most popular, or least popular depending on who you ask, player in the world.
Ronaldo has such a big impact on raising money for charities around the world that French magazine So Foot reported that the Real Madrid superstar donated $7.8 million to the Nepal earthquake relief fund. That came as no surprise to anyone as Ronaldo has the kind of money to give that much to a charity that may need it the most.
Apparently, that report came as a surprise to Ronaldo as well as the charity itself, denying the original report of the giant donation in his name.
The charity, Save the Children released a statement on Thursday afternoon, regarding the enormous donation — or lack thereof.
"“The global ambassador for Save the Children, Cristiano Ronaldo, has used his voice and his global visibility to raise awareness of the problems that the most vulnerable children around the world, including those affected by the earthquake in Nepal face. The latest information on the donation of Cristiano Ronaldo to the emergency response of Save the Children in Nepal is false. After the second earthquake, which has brought further devastation to the country, the NGO wants to thank Cristiano Ronaldo and other influential people support to publicize the situation in which children and families in Nepal are.”"
While this may seem like something to give Ronaldo a bad name, he did ask his 103 million Facebook followers to donate to the Save the Children fund. The post got 7,500 shares and nearly 240,000 likes as he got the word out there and the charity thanked him for his efforts.
Ronaldo may not have donated $7.8 million, but he contributed to the fund via Facebook and he likely donated a large chunk of change from his own pocket.
The charity seems to be receiving a lot of help from Good Samaritans around the world, but we can’t knock Cristiano for asking his millions of Facebook followers to donate — in which a large handful probably did.
I’m guessing after the charity denied the report, Ronaldo’s people were probably on the phone getting a hefty donation together for Save the Children.
Either way, he’s a very charitable guy.
