All 30 teams are in the big tournaments today, which leaves us an overwhelming number of players to choose from. Who are the best options? Let’s check the stats!

Here are my FanDuel hitter picks for May 17:
First Base:
Best Bet:
Adrian Gonzalez, Dodgers ($4,400): AGon has hit Kyle Kendrick well, which is not much of a surprise. He is 6-15 with three walks and four doubles to go with three RBI off of Kendrick. It’s only a matter of time until Gonzalez takes him out of the park.
If You’re Cheap:
Matt Adams, Cardinals ($2,500): Adams faced Alfredo Simon seven times when Simon was with the Reds. All three of his hits went for extra bases (two doubles and a homer) and he has driven in three runs. Adams is a strong bet for a low price today.
Second Base:
Best Bet:
Jose Altuve, Astros ($4,700): Altuve hits nearly everyone well. Mark Buehrle is no exception to that rule. Altuve is 4-11 with a double off of the veteran lefty, and that doesn’t count the havoc he causes on the bases.
If You’re Cheap:
Omar Infante, Royals ($2,500): Infante has had success against Chris Capuano. He is 7-18 off of the Yankee starter with a double, a triple, two homers, and three RBI. He could be a great cheap source of points.
Shortstop:
Best Bet:
Starlin Castro, Cubs ($3,100): Castro has hammered A.J. Burnett. He is a whopping 15-32 with three doubles and four RBI off of Burnett. He is on base nearly half the time, which means he is always getting points.
If You’re Cheap:
Didi Gregorius, Yankees ($2,200): Gregorious is 4-7 with a walk, two homers, and three RBI in his career off of Edinson Volquez. Let’s see if the success follows to the American League.
Third Base:
Best Bet:
Evan Longoria, Rays ($3,300): Longoria has hit Kyle Gibson well. Longoria is 3-1 with a walk, a double, and three RBI off of the Twins youngster. Gibson has pitched well this year, but Longoria is still a good bet today.
If You’re Cheap:
Yunel Escobar, Nationals ($2,600): Escobar has reached base all five times that he has faced Ian Kennedy (three walks, a single, and a home run). Is there a stronger bet for a lower price?

Catchers:
Best Bet:
Miguel Montero, Cubs ($3,100): Montero is 4-7 with a walk, a double, and two RBI off of Burnett. If he is in the lineup today, he is the best play at catcher.
If You’re Cheap:
Yadier Molina, Cardinals ($2,300): Molina is struggling this year, but he has hit Alfredo Simon well. Molina is 5-14 with a double off of Simon. There is not a lot of good options at catcher today.
Outfield:
Best Bets:
Bryce Harper, Nationals ($5,600): Harper has only faced Ian Kennedy three times, and managed a single off of him. This is mostly due to the white-hot nature of Harper’s bat right now. He has scored a whopping 75 points in FanDuel over his last ten games. That is an absurd number.
Giancarlo Stanton, Marlins ($4,800): Stanton is only 3-9 with two walks off of Shelby Miller, but two of those hits are home runs. I wouldn’t bet against Stanton here either.
Andrew McCutchen, Pirates ($4,200): McCutchen is the only Pirate that has solved Jake Arrieta so far. McCutchen is 6-14 with a walk, two doubles, and an RBI off of the Cubs ace. Those are not great numbers, but they are positive.
If You’re Cheap:
Curtis Granderson, Mets ($2,800): Granderson is four for five with a walk, two doubles, and a solo home run off of Wily Peralta. He is a strong bet for good points again today.
Carlos Beltran, Yankees ($2,700): Beltran is 6-17 with seven RBI off of Edinson Volquez. Who needs extra base hits when you can drive in that many runs?
Melky Cabrera, White Sox ($2,500): Melky has fared well against Scott Kazmir in his career. He is 10-28 with two doubles, and homer, and three RBI. Even though Melky is struggling some to start the year, I have no problem taking him today.
