On the 15th anniversary of his first career win, which was at the Coca-Cola 600 in 2000, Matt Kenseth has won the pole to lead the 600-mile grueling stretch of driving Sunday.

With such a long stretch of racing ahead, it might as well be called Mad Matt: Fury Road.

Not only did he win the pole, but according to the unofficial times, Kenseth was significantly faster than the rest and was almost a full two miles per hour faster than Joey Logano at 194.252 compared to 192.836, who will be starting outside of him. His overall fastest lap was just enough to edge out Logano at 27.799 to 28.003.

Kevin Harvick, who has been on a legendary tear as of late, will be starting in the 8th position. At one point he was the fastest on the track overall, but his final round wasn’t as good and pushed him back down the standings.

This is the second pole of the season for Kenseth, who earned the pole at Bristol earlier this season, a race that he won.

For the rest of his Joe Gibbs Racing teammates, it was a good day on the track as well, as Carl Edwards was the 3rd fastest and Denny Hamlin was 5th fastest on the track. While Joe Gibbs Racing has been struggling lately, Hamlin won the All-Star Race and the rest of the team looks ready to dominate the same track again on Sunday.

Matt Kenseth has won Charlotte before, and this is the 15th anniversary. With the pole in his back pocket, will he claim another victory in the 600 miles of racing set to take place?
