Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar made an outstanding catch on Saturday that ended up turning a double play

The Kansas City Royals continually find ways to show why they’re maybe the best team in all of baseball, and on Saturday as they take on the Texas Rangers, shortstop Alcides Escobar did his part to show you why this team is so efficient.

In one of the most incredible double plays that you will ever see turned, watch as Escobar makes an insane barehanded catch and is able to complete the DP without the slightest of a hitch.

Now that play right there takes a lot. It takes unbelievable concentration, toughness and precision; these are all traits that Escobar clearly possesses, as if you couldn’t tell.

The most amazing part of all this is how easy he made this seem. We see double plays turned every day throughout the summer and the baseball season, but generally the glove is in use. Escobar makes this look so easy that you’d swear he used the glove. But, in fact, he did not and provided us all with one of the plays of the year on Saturday.

Again, this is why the Royals do what they do.
