Saturday’s slate of games is split up pretty evenly again today. There are eight games in the afternoon, which gives us plenty of options to choose from. Who are the best ones? Let’s check the numbers!

More from FanDuel

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. I just provide the facts.

Here are my Early FanDuel Picks For June 6:

Pitchers:

Best Bet:

Madison Bumgarner, Giants ($10,200): The Phillies have got some hits off of Bumgarner (13 fo 54, or a .241 average), but they have had problems turning base runners into runs. They have only scored four runs against Bumgarner and struck out 14 times. MadBum’s strikeout potential and his great chance at a win taking on rookie Severino Gonzalez put him firmly at the top of the afternoon list.

Honorable Mention:

Jesse Chavez, Athletics ($8,400): The current Red Sox roster is hitting just .209 off of Chavez in 43 at bats with ten strikeouts. That said, Chavez has never faced current lineup mainstays Xander Bogaerts, Rusney Castillo, and Mookie Betts. All three of them bat right handed, so there could be some adjustment coming to his career numbers against the Red Sox today.

If You’re Cheap:

Matt Garza, Brewers ($6,500): Garza has done well against his former team. Against the current Twins roster, he has held them to a .208 average in 53 at bats with giving up only four runs and striking out 15. If you don’t want to pay for Bumgarner, Garza might be the next bes thing.

Stay Away:

Yordano Ventura, Royals ($8,400): The young fireballer has shown flashes of his great potential, but he is still inconsistent. On top of that, the Rangers have hit him hard as early as three weeks ago when they touched him up for five runs on ten hits and two walks on May 13th. The current Rangers roster is now hitting .297 off of Ventura in 64 at bats with three homers and ten runs scored. They have also struck out 16 times, which limits Ventura’s risk factor some.

Next: Let's Check Out The Hitters!

First Base:

Best Bet:

Carlos Santana, Indians ($4,000): Santana has faced Ubaldo Jimenez four times. In those four at bats, he has three walks and a three run home run. It doesn’t get much better than this, folks!

Prince Fielder, Rangers ($4,000): Prince’s numbers against Ventura also bear mentioning. Prince is three for four with two singles and a two run homer off of the Royals righty. Too bad we can’t play both him and Santana! You may want to head over to DraftKings where Santana is still eligible at third base to try this power combo!

If You’re Cheap:

Mike Napoli, Red Sox ($3,300): Napoli is only 2 for 7 with a walk off of Jesse Chavez with four strikeouts, but those two hits are a triple and a home run. If he gets a hold of one, it is going to go a long ways.

Second Base:

Brian Dozier, Twins ($4,200): Dozier only has two hits in six at bats off of Matt Garza, but they have both gone for extra bases (a double and a solo home run). Dozier has not struggled against Garza like some of his teammates have.

If You’re Cheap:

Jose Altuve, Astros ($3,700): Altuve isn’t much cheaper than Dozier, but enticing options such as Dustin Pedroia and Chase Utley have struggled against their opponents today. That leaves Altuve, who is 2 for 5 with a double off of Drew Hutchison.

Shortstop:

Best Bet:

Alcides Escobar, Royals ($2,500): Pickings (and stats) are slim at shortstop this afternoon. Escobar is by far the leader of the pack with his 4 for 12  with three walks, a double, and two RBI off of Wandy Rodriguez. There is no one else even close!

If You’re Cheap:

Freddy Galvis, Phillies ($2,200): Playing anyone against Bumgarner is a risk, but Galvis is actually one for three with a single off of him. Yes, that is the best of the rest.

Third Base:

Best Bet:

Josh Donaldson, Blue Jays ($4,900): Donaldson faced Brett Oberholtzer plenty in the AL West, and he hit him hard. Donaldson is 6 for 15 with three walks, four doubles, a homer and three RBI off of Oberholtzer. He is probably the best bet of the afternoon. Spending the money is your best bet here.

If You’re Cheap:

Pablo Sandoval, Red Sox ($2,200): Panda has only faced Jesse Chavez twice, but he has singled off of him both times and driven in a run. He could be a sneaky play at his price.

Next: How Does The Outfield Look?

Catcher:

Best Bet:

The stats don’t tell us much at catcher today. Yan Gomes ($2,300) is one for three with a single and a walk off of Jimenez. Robinson Chirinos is 0 for 6 off of Yordano Ventura, but his backup, Carlos Corporan ($2,400) is one for three with a solo homer off of him.

Another one to stay away from is Kurt Suzuki ($2,200). He is just 1 for 10 off of Matt Garza.

Outfielders:

Best Bets:

Jose Bautista, Blue Jays ($4,700): Bautista only has six at bats against Oberholtzer, but he has a walk, a double, and a home run while driving in two. Between him and Donaldson it could be a long day for the Astros today.

Brandon Moss, Indians ($3,900): Moss has fared very well against Ubaldo Jimenez. In 14 career at bats, he has two walks, four singles, a homer, and four RBI off of the Orioles veteran. He could have another good day today.

Torii Hunter, Twins ($3,500): Hunter is three for seven with two singles and a two run homer off of Matt Garza in his career. Hunter has also been pretty hot at the plate lately, so this could be worth the investment today.

Shin-Soo Choo, Rangers ($3,400): Choo is only two for seven off of Yordano Ventura, but he did take him deep for a two run home run last year.

Delino DeShields, Rangers ($3,400): Back on May 13th, DeShields finished a homer shy of the cycle in his three at bats against Ventura. It’s safe to say he sees the ball well off of him.

If You’re Cheap:

Preston Tucker, Astros ($2,900): Tucker was two for two with a double in his only appearance against Hutchison this year. Can he do it again? For this price, it might be worth the risk.

Ben Revere, Phillies ($2,900): Revere is well noted for his struggles against left handed pitching, so it is very surprising that he has found the kind of success that he has against one of the best lefties in the game. Revere is 4 for 8 with a double and two RBI off of Bumgarner in his career.
