During lap 68, Stenhouse Jr. went low on the track as he tried to pass Casey Mears. As Stenhouse went low, so did Mears. However, instead of being able to pass, Stenhouse Jr. lost control of his car. While he tried to regain control of his vehicle, Stenhouse Jr. crashed hard directly into the wall.
The course became a pinball machine as Stenhouse Jr. first ran into the wall with his side, before getting turned sideways and hitting the wall directly.
Upon further review, it appears the wreck wasn’t a result of Mears going low to block, but rather Stenhouse Jr. just lost control of his vehicle on the tricky triangle.
The last couple of weeks of racing have been a struggle for Stenhouse Jr., and lately he has been finishing near the bottom of every race. Thanks to this wreck, this race will be no different for the Zest Soap car and the No. 17 racing team.
Things are going well for Ricky right now.
