Martin Truex Jr. picked up his first win of the season at the Axalta 400. Where does he stand in the points standings?

For weeks, Kevin Harvick has been dominating the points standings in NASCAR.

He still has a sizable points lead, but the guy that has been behind him all year is finally closing the gap.

Just about every week of the season, Martin Truex Jr. has been near the top of the points standings despite not even having a win on the season. In fact, he has led the most laps at several races without even having a win to show for it.

This week at Pocono Raceway, that changed as Truex Jr. picked up his first win of the season and he closed the gap on Kevin Harvick.

Jimmie Johnson won last week and finished third this week, but is still far behind in the points, where he is in third. Still, with the most wins on the year, Johnson only needs to focus on the Sprint Cup Championship at this point.

The big winner this week was Matt Kenseth, who moved up two spots into 9th overall. After never having any good finishes at Pocono, Kenseth had a nice run on Sunday, and was rewarded nicely in the points.

With the Axalta 400 complete, here is the updated points standings.
