All 30 teams are included in the big tournaments for tonight. That gives us an overwhelming number of options. Let’s use statistics to whittle down the selections and see who the best bets are based on past history.

More from FanDuel

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. I just provide the facts.

Here are my FanDuel hitter picks for June 8:

First Base:

Best Bets:

Miguel Cabrera, Tigers ($4,800): Miggy has absolutely owned Jon Lester over the course of their careers. He is 12 for 23 with seven walks, four doubles, a homer and three RBI off of Lester. That’s right. His average is .522 with a .633 on base percentage. That means a lot of points for us FanDuel players.

Joey Votto, Reds ($4,100): Votto is 3 for 8 with four walks, a double, a homer and three RBI off of Aaron Harang. There is a great chance that Votto spends a lot of time on the bases tonight as well.

If You’re Cheap:

Kendrys Morales, Royals ($2,700): Morales has only faced Twins starter Trevor May three times. It was in the same game earlier this year. Morales did have two hits in those three at bats, including a solo home run. He is a solid bet if you need to go cheap.

Second Base:

Best Bets:

Brian Dozier, Twins ($4,200): None of the second basemen have a particularly good average against today’s opponents, so you have to go with counting stats as a measuring stick. Dozier only has two hits off of Chris Young in nine at bats, but one is a double and the other is a home run. He has also driven in two. If he gets ahold of one, it is likely going for extra bases.

Ian Kinsler, Tigers ($3,300): Kinsler is only 7 for 32 (.219) with four walks off of Jon Lester, but two of those hits are home runs and he has driven in four runs. Much like Dozier, if he manages to get something to hit, it could go a long way.

If You’re Cheap:

Jeff Baker, Marlins ($2,700): If you choose to go cheap here, you need to make sure that Baker is in the lineup. Fortunately for us FanDuel players, this game is among the early ones, so we will know before the tournament starts. If he is in there, you should consider using him. He is 6 for 14 with a double and a solo home run off of Mark Buehrle in his career.

Shortstop:

Best Bet:

Jhonny Peralta, Cardinals ($4,200): Peralta doesn’t have much success against Jorge De La Rosa in his career (4 for 21), hitting just .190, but there is not much to choose from at shortstop either. Of those four hits, Peralta has two doubles and a homer while driving in three and drawing three walks. As far as counting stats go, he is the best bet. Just be aware that he is just as likely to be shut out.

If You’re Cheap:

Elvis Andrus, Rangers ($2,800): Elvis has no counting stats against Sonny Gray, but he has reached base ten times (five singles and five walks) in 29 at bats. Yet, that is better than most of the competition at shortstop tonight. You have a good chance of getting a couple of points out of Andrus at least.

Third Base:

Best Bet:

Martin Prado, Marlins ($2,700): All of the higher priced guys either have poor histories against their opponents (Josh Donaldson, Todd Frazier), or no history against their opponents (Joey Gallo, Kris Bryant). Prado at least has a track record. He is 5 for 18 with two walks, two doubles, a homer, and three RBI off of Mark Buehrle in his career.

If You’re Cheap:

Aramis Ramirez, Brewers ($2,200): Aramis struggled some this year, hitting just .204, but he does have six homers. And he is facing an opponent in Francisco Liriano that he has hit well off of Aramis is 3 for 10 wtih a walk, a double, a homer, and four RBI off of Liriano in his career. He could be a very nice cheap play tonight.

Catcher:

Best Bet:

Yadier Molina, Cardinals ($2,900): Molina has done pretty well against De La Rosa in his career. Molina is 5 for 14 with a walk and a two run homer off of the veteran lefty. He is easily the best bet behind the plate today, or at least the most proven one.

If You’re Cheap:

Salvador Perez, Royals ($2,500): Perez has had a pretty slow year at the plate, but not against Trevor May. He has three singles and two RBI in five at bats against May. He is a low risk that could have a nice reward today.

Outfield:

Best Bets:

Jose Bautista, Blue Jays ($5,400): Bautista is only 6 for 20 off of Dan Haren, but that is good for a .300 average. Well, and half of those hits are home runs and he has driven in five off of Haren. He is a good bet to take him out of the yard again.

Mike Trout, Angels ($5,000): Trout only has three at bats against Nathan Karns, but he has a walk and a solo home run in those three at bats. He is a good bet for crooked numbers again tonight.

Ryan Braun, Brewers ($4,100): Braun is 6 for 18 with five walks, a homer, and five RBI off of Francisco Liriano. Also, Braun has been on quite a tear anyway lately, making this pick look even better.

Hanley Ramirez, Red Sox ($3,800): Hanley only has six at bats agianst Miguel Gonzalez, but he has three hits, two homers, and four RBI off of him. Expect another strong night from Hanley.

Matt Holliday, Cardinals ($3,400): Holliday has hit former teammate Jorge De La Rosa well with 7 hits in 17 at bats and a pair of walks. He has a homer, a double, and four RBI in those 17 at bats. He is a strong bet back at Coors Field.

If You’re Cheap:

Rajai Davis, Tigers ($2,900): Davis is 12 for 41 with four walks, two doubles, two triples, a homer, and six RBI off of Jon Lester. Expect another big night from Rajai and the other Detroit right handers in the lineup.

Ichiro Suzuki, Marlins ($2,500): The Marlins should be able to work Ichiro into the lineup in an A.L. ballpark, and they need to. Ichiro is 27 for 63 (.429 average) with three walks, a double, a triple, a homer, and eight RBI off of Mark Buehrle. He is a great low priced candidate tonight.

Nick Markakis, Braves ($2,400): Markakis knows James Shields well from their days in the American League. Markakis is 21 for 71 with 11 walks, five doubles, two homers, and eight RBI off of Shields. Expect more of the same even though the uniforms are different.
