There are only three afternoon games today, which really limits our selections. Jon Moscot is making only his second major league start, so there are no statistics available against him. Aaron Sanchez has never faced the Marlins, which leaves us only four pitchers with histories against them. Add in the fact that Tom Koehler has never faced the Blue Jays, and we are down to three. Due to that, today’s picks won’t be solely based on statistics, but they still will be when they are available.

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. I just provide the facts.
Here are my early FanDuel picks for June 10:
Pitcher:
Best Bet:
Aaron Sanchez, Blue Jays ($7,000): Both Gio Gonzalez and Nathan Eovaldi have entensive histories against the teams they are facing (the Yankees and Nationals respectively), and neither has done well. That puts Sanchez at the head of the early games. He was very good in his last outing, only allowing two runs and putting up 14 FanDuel points against the Astros in eight innings. He is a strong bet against Tom Koehler and the Marlins for the win today.
Honorable Mention:
Gio Gonzalez, Nationals ($8,600): Gonzalez is only here because I don’t trust Jerome Williams and he has fared somewhat better than Eovaldi has against the Nationals. Still, the Yankees have hit .281 off of Gio in 96 at bats with 19 walks, three homers, 14 runs scored to 21 strikeouts. I wouldn’t expect a great day from him, but he should be able to get a win.
Stay Away:
Nathan Eovaldi, Yankees ($7,500): The Nationals are no stranger to Eovaldi since he started his career in Miami. They have hit .301 off of him in 153 at bats with 18 walks, five homers, 18 runs scored, but he has tallied 30 strikeouts. That said, I really don’t trust him with that short porch in right in Yankee Stadium.
Catcher:
Wilson Ramos, Nationals ($2,700): Ramos is 5 for 16 with a double and two RBI in his career off of Eovaldi. That’s good enough for me! Brian McCann is just 1 for 6 off of Gio Gonzalez.
Next: Let's Check The Infield

First Base:
Best Bet:
Ryan Zimmerman, Nationals ($2,400): Zimmerman has also handled Eovaldi. He has only three hits in ten at bats, but two of those are home runs and he has driven in three. If you are looking for someone with a track record, Zimm is your man.
Honorable Mention:
Joey Votto, Reds ($4,000): Votto has never faced Jerome Williams, but he is hitting .323 off of right handed pitching over the last three years. Oh, and he hit three homers off of Aaron Harang last night. You might say that he is in a groove right now.
Second Base:
Best Bet:
Dee Gordon, Marlins ($3,400): There really aren’t any stats to go by here. With Brandon Phillips likely to miss some time with a groin strain, Devon Travis still out, and Danny Espinosa losing time with Anthony Rendon‘s return, Gordon is the best bet for counting numbers because of his stolen base prowess. He could have a hard time getting on against Aaron Sanchez, but if he does, he could easily put up crooked numbers.
Honorable Mention:
Chase Utley, Phillies ($2,500): A veteran left hander starting against a rookie right handed pitcher is always a good gamble.
Shortstop:
Best Bet:
Ian Desmond, Nationals ($3,000): Desmond is only 5 for 18 with two walks off of Eovaldi, but he has homered off of him and driven in three runs. That is enough to give him some consideration at least.
Honorable Mention:
Zack Cozart, Reds ($2,700): Cozart has homered in three of his last four games and driven in six runs over that span. Only his teammate Joey Votto is hotter right now.
Third Base:
Best Bet:
Anthony Rendon, Nationals ($3,600): Rendon is 7 for 17 with four walks and two doubles in his career off of Nate Eovaldi. However, he has not homered off of him and only driven in one run. That said, there should be plenty of his teammates on the bases, so Rendon is a good option.
Honorable Mention:
Todd Frazier, Reds ($4,200): Frazier has 13.25 FanDuel points in the two games against Philadelphia so far this series. Also, 11 of his 18 home runs have come in the friendly confines of Great American Ballpark. He is as good of a bet as anyone.
Next: Who Are The Best Outfielders?

Outfield:
Best Bets:
Bryce Harper, Nationals ($5,500): Harper is 6 for 14 with two walks and a solo homer off of Eovaldi. You know he wants to hit one in his first series at Yankee Stadium. This is his best chance.
Giancarlo Stanton, Marlins ($5,000): Stanton has three homers in his last two games against the Blue Jays. He likes hitting in SkyDome or Rogers Centre, or whatever it is called now. At any rate, Sanchez may get a win, but Stanton won’t let him get it easily. Also, Stanton is also leading the majors in homers and RBI. Why not gamble on him?
Jose Bautista, Blue Jays ($5,400): Bautista has four homers and seven RBI in the last week, and he is facing a pitcher in Tom Koehler who has been hit pretty hard this year. The Blue Jays are one of the better offenses in the league. That could equal a lot of runs for the Jays.
Honorable Mention:
Denard Span, Nationals ($2,800): Of course, this is assuming that Span’s back soreness doesn’t keep him out of the lineup again. If he does play, Span in a decent bet. He is 6 for 19 with an RBI off of Eovaldi.
Brett Gardner, Yankees ($3,900): He is perched atop one of the better lineups in the league with Jacoby Ellsbury still on the DL, and he is 9 for 30 in June. He is getting on base, and has stolen two bases so far this month. He is less of a strong bet against a left handed starter, but Gardner has proven that he can still handle himself against lefties.
