Torii Hunter has epic meltdown after being ejected from game (video)
By Len Nunes
Torii Hunter of the Minnesota Twins gave a wonderful temper tantrum after being ejected on Wednesday.
Drafted in 1993 by the Minnesota Twins, Torii Hunter is now in his 19th season in the MLB. Returning to the Twins after playing elsewhere for seven years, this was suppose to be a life goes full circle type of season for him. Maybe Mr. Hunter went a little too far back with the life dial, as he served up an all out angry kid temper tantrum on Wednesday night.
Down five runs in the bottom of the 8th inning, Hunter watched a pitch go low and outside. Unfortunately for him, the home plate umpire saw the pitch catch the corner of the plate and called strike three. At first it looked like your run of the mill player/ump showdown.
The face-to-face chat with an umpire resulting in an ejection: yawn, seen it a thousand times.
The manager coming out and facing the same fate as his player: yawn, seen it a thousand times.
However, you knew things were about to get real exciting though when Hunter removed his batting helmet and gently tossed it on the ground along with his bat.
The true snapping point for Hunter seemed to be when he is being escorted off the field. He caught himself shoving the crew chief, and then the wheels fell off.
Actually, the elbow guard, chin guard, batting gloves and jersey
fell off
were thrown onto the playing field.
Thank you, Torii Hunter. That was epic!
