There is a lot of action on this Saturday afternoon, with nine of the 15 games starting between 4:05 and 4:10pm Eastern. That gives us many more options for the early slate than the late one. Who are the best bets based on statistics? Let’s find out!

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. I just provide the facts.

Here is my afternoon FanDuel lineup for June 13:

Pitchers:

Best Bet:

Jacob DeGrom, Mets ($10,600): DeGrom has handled the Braves well in his limited exposure to them. The current Atlanta lineup has only seven hits in 35 at bats to a whopping 15 strikeouts. They have managed to score four runs, but with the great strikeout potential and the chance at a win because of Shelby Miller’s struggles against the Mets, deGrom takes top billing.

If You’re Cheap:

Colby Lewis, Rangers ($6,300): Lewis has dominated the Twins in his career. The current lineups is hitting just .176 off of him in 74 career at bats with 20 strikeouts. The bad news? Lewis has given up four round trippers. Still, with his history and with Mike Pelfrey’s against Texas, Lewis could be a great bargain.

Stay Away:

Carlos Carrasco, Indians ($8,800): Carrasco has had issues against Detroit. The Tigers are hitting .330 off of him in 112 career at bats with 12 runs scored. You can definitely do better at this price.

Catcher:

Best Bet:

Francisco Cervelli, Pirates ($2,800): Cervelli has been hot lately, and he is 2 for 4 in his career against Sean O’Sullivan with a walk, two doubles, and two RBI. It’s a small sample size, but it’s good enough for me!

If You’re Cheap:

Mike Zunino, Mariners ($2,200): Zunino is only 4 for 16 off of Collin McHugh, but he has done some damage with those four hits. Two of those are home runs, and he has driven in three. If he gets ahold of one, he could pay off big for you cheapskates.

Next: How Does The Infield Look?

May 21, 2015; Detroit, MI, USA; Detroit Tigers second baseman Ian Kinsler (3) drives in a run on a fielder

First Base:

Best Bets:

Miguel Cabrera, Tigers ($4,800): There are two guys here because honestly, you can’t go wrong with either of them. You know if Carrasco is struggling against Detroit that Miggy is the root cause. He is 8 for 21 with two walks, a double, a homer, and two RBI off of Carrasco in his career.

Prince Fielder, Rangers ($3,600): Fielder crushed Pelfrey when he was in Milwaukee and Pelfrey was a Met. Prince is 8 for 25 with three walks, two doubles, three homers, and a whopping 11 RBI off of Pelfrey. Prince might be the best bet of the entire day!

If You’re Cheap:

Joe Mauer, Twins ($2,700): Mauer is 5 for 11 with a walk, a homer, and four RBI off of Colby Lewis. The bad news is that he is the only Twin with any record of success against Lewis.

Second Base:

Best Bet:

Ian Kinsler, Tigers ($3,400): Kinsler is 7 for 19 in his career off of Carrasco with a walk, three doubles, and three RBI. He is a strong bet to do some more damage this afternoon.

If You’re Cheap:

None. No, I’m not kidding. Second base is littered with those who have struggled against today’s starters. Stay far away from the top priced option in Jason Kipnis. He is just 3 for 34 off of Justin Verlander with 13 strikeouts in his career.

Shortstop:

Best Bet:

Jhonny Peralta, Cardinals ($3,800): Peralta is 9 for 25 with four walks and three RBI off of Jeremy Guthrie. So what if all the hits are singles. He is still scoring runs, and getting on base nearly twice a game!

If You’re Cheap:

Elvis Andrus, Rangers ($2,500): Elvis has only faced Pelfrey three times, but he got on base every time and drove in a run. You can do worse.

Third Base:

Best Bet:

Josh Harrison, Pirates ($3,100): Harrison only faced Sean O’Sullivan twice in his game against him. Of course, Harrison was part of the reason for O’Sullivan’s early shower, hitting a three run homer off of him.

If You’re Cheap:

Chris Johnson, Braves ($2,200): If you roll the dice here, make sure Johnson gets the start over Juan Uribe. He should, given his 5 for 8 career tally off of deGrom. He is the only Brave that has had success against him.

Stay Away:

Kyle Seager, Mariners ($3,300): I don’t usually do this, but it is worth noting that Seager is just 1 for 19 in his career off of Collin McHugh. Stay away from this one too.

Next: Who Are The Best Outfielders?

Outfield:

Best Bets:

Michael Brantley, Indians ($3,600): Not all of the little Indians have struggled against Verlander. Brantley has hit him about as well as anyone. He is 18 for 54 with three walks, a double, a triple, and an impressive 8 RBI off of the Tigers ace.

Nelson Cruz, Mariners ($3,600): Cruz has only faced McHugh nine times, but he has three hits, including two solo home runs. He is a good bet again today.

Charlie Blackmon, Rockies ($3,500): Blackmon has only faced Latos five times, but he does have a single and a solo home run off of him.

Carlos Gonzalez, Rockies ($3,400): If you want a better track record against Latos, look no further than CarGo. He is 6 for 19 with two walks, a double, two homers, and four RBI off of him. With the way Latos has struggled this year, it is difficult not to recommend Gonzalez today.

If You’re Cheap:

J.D. Martinez, Tigers ($3,000): Martinez is 4 for 13 with a double, a homer, and four RBI off of Carlos Carrasco. Yet another Tiger worth playing. Now you see why I tell you to stay away from Carrasco!

Ben Revere, Phillies ($3,000): Revere has managed to wreak havoc against Gerritt Cole. Revere is 5 for 9 with an RBI and a couple of steals off of the Pittsburgh ace.

Michael Bourn, Indians ($2,200): Bourn has been arguably the best Cleveland hitter against Verlander. He is 12 for 33 with four walks, two doubles, and four RBI off of him, not to mention the steals and runs scored.

Stay tuned for the late lineups!
