The Quicken Loans 400 was stopped after 12 laps because of rain in the Brooklyn, Michigan area.

For NASCAR fans in Michigan and those watching from home, their excitement for the Quicken Loans 400 will have to be put on hold as the red flag has come out.

With Carl Edwards working his way to the top spot past Kasey Kahne, the race came to a stop after 12 laps because of rain. Kevin Harvick sat in third when the red flag officially came out.

All week long in Michigan, rain has consistently been an issue, and the rain today is no surprise. It’s unclear how long the delay will last for, but weather forecasts call for another 10-20 minutes so of rain.

If the rain does indeed stop in 20 minutes or so, perhaps they can get the track dry and everyone back on it for green flag racing. However, it’s unclear at the moment if there are any other storm cells coming in that could further prohibit racing.

Right now, Kasey Kahne and several other drivers who are looking to pick up their first win of the season, will have their chances on hold.

Hopefully the race can get started again sooner rather than later.
