There are five interleague games this afternoon. That means two things: One, the player pool is fairly shallow to begin with, and two, there aren’t going to be a lot of players with much of a history against their opponents. Michael Wacha has never faced the Twins. The only Oakland player that Andrew Cashner has ever faced is Ike Davis, who is 0 for 1 off of him. Chris Rusin and Vincent Velasquez barely have a track record against their own divisions, let alone the other league.

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. I just provide the facts.
Here is my early FanDuel lineup for June 16:
Pitcher:
Best Bet:
Julio Teheran, Braves ($7,900): The current Red Sox lineup is just 4 for 20 off of Teheran, but that “experience” is limited to four players: Jeff Bianchi, Hanley Ramirez, Pablo Sandoval, and the injured Shane Victorino. That leaves out most of the heavy hitters in this lineup such as David Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia, Rusney Castillo, and sparkplug Mookie Betts. There is reason to be cautious here.
Honorable Mention:
Wade Miley, Red Sox ($7,100): Miley spent a few years in the NL with the Diamondbacks, and the current Braves took their swings at him 89 times. They walked away with just 22 hits (.247 average) with two homers, nine runs scored, and 13 strikeouts. I usually don’t trust Miley, but this is a good sized sample.
Stay Away:
J.A. Happ, Mariners ($6,800): The Giants have a robust .379 average with three homers and 11 runs scored in only 58 at bats against Happ. The Giant offense has been surprisingly good this year, and with their history off of Happ, I’m not touching this one.
Catcher:
Best Bet:
Buster Posey, Giants ($3,700): Posey is 2 for 3 with a double off of Happ. That is not a large sample size, but none of them will be this afternoon, and few will be this evening as well. I go with what I have.
Honorable Mention:
Derek Norris, Padres ($3,100): Norris is 2 for 4 with a walk and a double in his career off of Scott Kazmir, whom he caught for a few times last year with the A’s. How well does his really know his former pitcher? We will find out!
Next: Let's Check The Infield!

First Base:
Best Bet:
Brandon Belt, Giants ($3,400): Belt has had no problems with left handed J.A. Happ. Then again, few of his teammates have either. Belt is 3 for 5 with a homer and three RBI off of Happ. Happ’s struggles against the Giants are well documented, so Belt should have a chance to drive in some more runs this afternoon.
Honorable Mention:
Logan Morrison, Mariners ($2,200): LoMo got a few rips against Tim Lincecum when he was with the Marlins. Morrison is 2 for 6 with three walks off of Lincecum. Both of the hits were for extra bases in a triple and a home run, and he also has driven in a pair. I wouldn’t bet against him doing some more damage today.
Second Base:
There are only two players with any history against their opponents today, and neither are good. Robinson Cano ($2,300) is 0 for 3 against Tim Lincecum. Jace Peterson ($3,300) is 0 for 1 off of Wade Miley. So at second base this afternoon, your guess is as good as mine.
Shortstop:
Best Bet:
Andrelton Simmons, Braves ($2,300): Simmons is 3 for 9 with a double off of Wade Miley, and he is the only one with any kind of history at SS this afternoon. If you are playing the stats, Simmons is the only one that fits your needs.
Third Base:
Best Bet:
Chris Johnson, Braves ($2,200): If the Braves want to give Juan Uribe a day off, this would be a good time to do it. Johnson is 4 for 11 with a home run an four RBI off of Wade Miley. He is a strong play if the Braves have him in their lineup.
Honorable Mention:
Casey McGehee, Giants ($2,300): McGehee has hit J.A. Happ pretty well in his career. McGehee is only 4 for 15 off of him, but he has walked twice, doubled twice, and driven in an impressive five runs off of Happ. McGehee is one of the better options despite not having any power.
Next: Who Are The Best OF's?

Outfield:
Best Bets:
Nori Aoki, Giants ($3,000): Aoki is an impressive 6 for 11 with two doubles, a homer, and two RBI off of J.A. Happ in his career. He is not one of the bigger names, but he could have one of the bigger games of the afternoon.
Seth Smith, Mariners ($2,400): Smith is only a pedestrian 11 for 44 off of Tim Lincecum with three walks. It’s what he has done in those 11 hits that isn’t pedestrian. He has three doubles, three homers, and five RBI off of the Freak. He is one of the stronger afternoon plays.
Melvin Upton, Padres ($2,200): The Upton formerly known as “B.J.” is 2 for 4 with a walk off of Scott Kazmir, and both of those hits went for extra bases. One was a double, the other was a home run. He has also driven in a pair off of Kazmir. He is a solid bet today.
Honorable Mention:
Mark Trumbo, Mariners ($2,700): Trumbo has missed the last two games with back spasms, but it appears he could return as soon as today. If he does, Trumbo is a very good play. He is 3 for 8 with a double, a homer, and two RBI off of Tim Lincecum.
Dustin Ackley, Mariners ($2,200): Ackley has only faced Lincecum twice, but he did get a hit off of him. If you are really looking to roll the dice, Ackley could be a decent bargain.
Stay tuned for the late lineups!
