Two thirds of today’s games are in the late tournaments. That leaves us 20 of every position to choose from. However, since all of these are interleague matchups, the statistical histories are not what we would like.

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. I just provide the facts.

Here is my late FanDuel lineup for June 16:

Pitcher:

Best Bet:

Jake Arrieta, Cubs ($9,800): Arrieta faced the Indians a couple of times while with Baltimore. The Tribe didn’t fare so well against him. Arrieta held the Indians to a .235 average in 51 at bats with just five runs scored. Still, he only struck out ten. There is a good chance that number increases exponentially tonight.

Honorable Mention:

Jeremy Hellickson, Diamondbacks ($5,900): Hellickson has a solid history against the Angels, surprisingly enough. The Angels have hit .275 off of Hellickson, but they have only scored three runs in those 40 at bats and have struck out ten times. Hellickson could be a solid cheap play tonight if you feel like playing the lottery a little bit.

Stay Away:

Charlie Morton, Pirates ($7,400): Morton has had a great 2015 season so far, but he does not have a good history against the White Sox. They are hitting a healthy .356 with two homers and 12 runs scored in just 45 at bats. I don’t trust this one.

Catcher:

Best Bet:

Chris Iannetta, Angels ($2,200): There isn’t much to go on at catcher today. Iannetta is 2 for 5 with a double and a walk off of Hellickson. That is the best bet of the night if you are putting faith in prior statistics.

Honorable Mention:

Rene Rivera, Rays ($2,200): Rivera is 2 for 5 off of Tanner Roark, but both of the hits are singles. Still, Rivera should get plenty of playing time with John Jaso out. You shouldn’t have to worry about whether or not he will be in the lineup.

First Base:

Best Bet:

Chris Davis, Orioles ($3,300): Davis is 3 for 9 with two doubles and a solo home run off of Jerome Williams in his career. He is a strong bet for some crooked numbers tonight.

If You’re Cheap:

Adam LaRoche, White Sox ($2,700): LaRoche is 5 for 7 with a home run and six RBI off of Charlie Morton. You won’t find any better statistical backing that this for tonight!

Second Base:

Best Bet:

Jason Kipnis, Indians ($4,400): Kipnis is 2 for 3 with two RBI off of Jake Arrieta. He is one of the few Indians with any sort of success against Arrieta. He is a solid bet to get positive points today.

If You’re Cheap:

Omar Infante, Royals ($2,200): Infante is 3 for 5 with a walk and a triple off of Matt Garza. The numbers aren’t that gaudy, but at half the price of Kipnis, he could provide really good bang for the buck.

Shortstop:

Best Bet:

Elvis Andrus, Rangers ($2,700): Andrus has four singles, three walks, and an RBI in 17 at bats off of Brett Anderson in his career. Andrus has the most extensive history against Anderson, and there is a good chance that he will be on base sometime tonight.

If You’re Cheap:

J.J. Hardy, Orioles ($2,200): Hardy is an impressive 7 for 19 with two walks, a double, a homer, and three RBI off of Jerome Williams. Hardy has had a rough year, but the history says that he is a strong bet tonight.

Third Base:

Best Bet:

Manny Machado, Orioles ($3,500): Machado is yet another Oriole who has had success off of Jerome Williams. Machado is 3 for 8 with a double, a homer, and two RBI off of Williams. Expect some crooked numbers tonight.

If You’re Cheap:

Aramis Ramirez, Brewers ($2,500): Ramirez has had some success off of Chris Young. His 13 at bats are the most of the Brewers current team against him. Aramis has picked up four hits and a walk, including two doubles and a home run. He has also driven in three runs. He is a strong bet tonight.

Next: How Does The Outfield Look?

Outfield:

Best Bets:

Mike Trout, Angels ($5,300): Trout is 2 for 4 with two walks, a homer, a double, and two RBI off of Jeremy Hellickson. That is 4 safe at bats out of six for Trout off of Hellickson. He is one of the better plays tonight.

Ryan Braun, Brewers ($3,900): Braun is only 2 for 9 off of Chris Young, but both of those hits have left the yard. He is a strong bet to hit one a long ways if he can make contact.

Michael Brantley, Indians ($3,500): Brantley has done well against Jake Arrieta. He is 4 for 7 with a walk and two RBI off of Arrieta. And we all know what he can do when he gets on base.

If You’re Cheap:

Gerardo Parra, Brewers ($2,500): Parra is a perfect 3 for 3 with a pair of RBI off of Chris Young. It is almost certain that he will get at least one point.

Nolan Reimold, Orioles ($2,400): Reimold is 3 for 6 with a double, a homer, and two RBI off of Jerome Williams. The stats say that Baltimore may as well be hitting off a tee against Williams tonight. Reimold should see plenty of at bats with runners on.
