There are only four games for the early going tomorrow. Two of those games start at noon eastern, so get your lineups in early!

That also limits the options for those of us that use past statistics to build our lineups. Who are the best ones? Let’s find out!

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science.

Here is my early FanDuel Lineup for June 24:

Pitcher:

Best Bet:

Nate Karns, Rays ($6,600): Small sample sizes could be the order of the afternoon. Not only is Karns the least expensive pitcher in the early tournaments, the statistics say he is the best bet. Now, I am apprehensive about this. He faced Toronto once during his call up last September, and was stellar. He gave up only two hits and two walks in seven inning while striking out eight. That translates to a .056 batting average and a .150 on base percentage. Statistically speaking, Karns is gold tomorrow.

Honorable Mention:

Phil Hughes, Twins ($7,300): Hughes has given up his share of hits to the White Sox. They have 40 hits in 161 career at bats (.248), but he has only walked five, and has done pretty well at limiting damage. They have just two homers and 14 RBI against 38 strikeouts. Hughes is not a big strikeout guy, but he has a lot of things going for him today. First off, he is facing off against Chris Sale, who has struggled some against the Twins. It probably has a lot to do with my second point: the Twins clobber left handed pitching. More on that later. When you add up Hughes’ history and his mound opponent, Hughes also has a pretty good shot at a win tomorrow.

Stay Away:

Carlos Carrasco, Indians ($8,900): The Tigers have largely had their way with Carrasco so far in his career. In 136 at bats, the Tigers have 44 hits (.324) with 13 walks, two homers, and 15 RBI. Justin Verlander has struggled for most of the past two seasons, so Carrasco may hang around long enough to have a shot at the win. I am a little worried about how many points he will give away in the process.

Catcher:

Best Bet:

Brian McCann, Yankees ($3,800): McCann is very familiar with Cole Hamels. They spent six years in the same division. You could probably say that McCann came out the victor for the most part. He has 17 hits in 61 at bats with seven walks, seven doubles, three homers, and an impressive 15 RBI. Expect McCann to enter the lineup as a DH at the very least to take advantage of his career numbers off of Hamels.

Honorable Mention:

Kurt Suzuki, Twins ($2,300): Let the parade of Twins begin! Suzuki is 5 for 16 with two walks, a double, and four RBI off of Chris Sale in his career. Oh, and he has only struck out twice against him. If he is making contact, something good could happen.

First Base:

Best Bet:

Miguel Cabrera, Tigers ($5,300): Miggy has 9 hits in 24 at bats against Carlos Carrasco with three walks, a double, a homer, and three RBI. Since Mark Teixeira is not a lock to play against the Phillies because of a sore neck, Miggy takes the honors. Though if Tex is in the lineup, he is worth a look. He has two homers and five RBI off of Cole Hamels.

Honorable Mention:

Jose Abreu, White Sox ($3,400): Abreu is 7 for 17 in his career off of Phil Hughes, but he has not taken him deep. He does have three doubles and three RBI though, so he could provide decent numbers at a discount price compared to Cabrera.

Second Base:

Best Bet:

Brian Dozier, Twins ($4,100): This is one of the days where Dozier might be worth every penny. He is 8 for 29 wtih a walk, two doubles, three homers, and eight RBI off of Chris Sale. He has hit Sale as hard as anyone has in his time in the league.

Honorable Mention:

Ian Kinsler, Tigers ($3,000): Kinsler is 7 for 22 wtih a walk, three doubles, and three RBI off of Carlos Carrasco. He is a good bet for more points tomorrow afternoon.

Stay Away:

Jason Kipnis, Indians ($4,500): For those of you thinking about spending the money on Kipnis, don’t. He is just 3 for 36 in his career off of Justin Verlander. There is no way he will provide you any value today.

Shortstop:

Best Bet:

Alexei Ramirez, White Sox ($2,500): Ramirez is 9 for 29 off of Phil Hughes with a walk, two doubles, a homer, and four RBI. He could be a great bargain at this price.

Honorable Mention:

Jose Iglesias, Tigers ($2,300): Iglesias is 3 for 5 off of Carlos Carrasco. The only bad thing is that he has no counting stats against him. Still, Iglesias is the winner in this matchup so far.

Third Base:

Best Bet:

Trevor Plouffe, Twins ($2,700): Plouffe is 9 for 30 in his career off of Chris Sale. He has three walks, a double, and two RBI off of him as well. Those aren’t great numbers, but third base is slim pickings in the early tournaments.

Honorable Mention:

Lonnie Chisenhall, Indians ($2,200): Aside from one week last season, Chisenhall has had a pretty pedestrian career. Not that it’s a bad thing. He is consistently solid. He has done pretty well off of Justin Verlander in his career, recording 8 hits in 27 at bats. He only has three doubles and two RBI, but at a thin position, this is not a bad line.

Outfield:

Best Bets:

J.D. Martinez, Tigers ($3,700): Martinez is 5 for 15 with a walk, two doubles, a homer, and five RBI off of Carlos Carrasco. Martinez might be the best bet in the outfield in the afternoon tournaments.

Yoenis Cespedes, Tigers ($3,700): Cespedes has only faced off against Carlos Carrasco seven times, but he has a walk and three singles off of him. He always has the potential to get more when he makes contact though.

Michael Bourn, Indians ($2,200): Bourn has done really well against Justin Verlander in his career. He is 13 for 35 with four walks, two doubles, and four RBI. He is going to create havoc when, not if, he is on the basepaths. Bourn is a strong play in the afternoon tourneys.

Michael Brantley, Indians ($3,200): Brantley is 18 for 56 with three walks, a double, a triple, and an impressive eight RBI off of Verlander. Chalk up another Indian for your outfield just in case Verlander blows up again.

Honorable Mention:

Torii Hunter, Twins ($2,600): Hunter is just another in a long line of successful right handed Twins hitters against Sale. Hunter is 10 for 37 with a double, a triple, and two solo home runs off of Sale in his career. Hunter could be a nice bargain at this price.

Carlos Beltran, Yankees ($3,000): Beltran’s average against Cole Hamels (.256 in 43 at bats) is nothing spectacular, but he does have two walks, two doubles, three homers, and five RBI off of the Phillies ace. That is a lot of counting stats!

Jeff Francouer, Phillies ($2,200): Frenchy is one of two Phillies with any kind of history off of Ivan Nova. Francouer is 4 for 5 with a double and three RBI off of Nova, so if he is in the Phillies lineup, he could be a very nice sneaky play.
