The San Antonio Spurs are having a solid offseason they plan on building on by adding Carlos Boozer and David West.

When the San Antonio Spurs last tried to make a splash in free agency, they missed on Jason Kidd and ended up being soured by the experience.

It’s worth noting though that the Spurs weren’t the iconic team they are now and Gregg Popovich isn’t the mastermind career extender that he has since become. All of that has made free agents look at San Antonio in new light, and that was proven when LaMarcus Aldridge decided to sign with them this weekend.

San Antonio isn’t stopping there though. They have the taste for free agent blood and want more.

According to ESPN.com’s Ramona Shelburne, the Spurs are interested in Carlos Boozer so that he can come off the bench and fill out the roster next season.

The Spurs locked up LaMarcus Aldridge, who was pitched on taking over for Tim Duncan when he retires in the very near future. But the bench still needs work and there are holes on the roster left by departing players like Marco Belinelli and Tiago Splitter.

Boozer is an interesting player in that he has the skills to be a great addition to the bench, but has always been considered a starter. He started and flamed out in Chicago and he did the same in Los Angeles with the Lakers last season.

It’s unclear if West will sign with the Spurs, but it makes sense if he does. Given how he wants to win now and how Popovich can probably add a few more meaningful years onto his career, West signing with the Spurs almost makes too much sense not to happen.

Either way, San Antonio needed to get better this summer and that’s exactly what they did and then some — and they’re not done yet.
