Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks are reportedly throwing in the towel on signing free agent center DeAndre Jordan.

The Dallas Mavericks and owner Mark Cuban had to think that their summer was going swimmingly in regards to NBA free agency. Just a few days ago, it appeared that both Wesley Matthews and DeAndre Jordan were heading to Dallas, bolstering a talented veteran roster. After much drama just hours before teams can officially sign free agents, it seems as if the former might not be joining the Mavs after all.

Now that a day full of uncertainty has unfolded on Wednesday, it appears as if Jordan will be returning to the Los Angeles Clippers. According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, Cuban has already begun breaking the bad news to the rest of the organization:

In being true to himself, Cuban undoubtedly didn’t go out without a fight. ESPN’s Chris Broussard is reporting that Cuban was in a frenzy trying to find the home DeAndre Jordan is pent up in:

The thought of imagining a livid Mark Cuban driving around in an automobile that likely cost around six figures all while behaving like a 16-year-old boy trying to find his ex after she ended their two-week relationship is sure to put a smile on many faces. Also worth noting: if Cuban is driving around Dallas, he’s not going to find Jordan considering that DeAndre is currently set up in Houston. Either Cuban or Broussard is messing up in a major way there.

As for the Mavericks and Jordan, this is a major blow to the franchise as they lose their biggest target of the summer in free agency and don’t look to be anywhere near a playoff-caliber team as constructed without Jordan on the roster. Given that, you can’t blame Cuban too much for driving around and listening to sad power ballads or whatever he’s doing.
