After some long negotiations, Justin Houston will be sticking around with the Kansas City Chiefs a little while longer for some nice coin

With the July 15 deadline here, the Kansas City Chiefs and Justin Houston decided that it was time to put their little saga to bed. After some negotiations that had some Chiefs fans a little worried about their stud pass rusher sticking around, the two came to terms Wednesday on a six-year, $101 million deal.

For those in the know, it goes without saying that it’s the richest deal for any linebacker in NFL history.

While some were worried that the two sides might not be able to reach anything definitive, there was no doubt that the Chiefs had no choice but to pay their franchise player.

Since his arrival with the Chiefs in 2011, Houston has done nothing but prove that he is indeed one of the best, if not the best outside linebacker in the game today. Every year of his career he has improved with his pass rushing and that was taken to a whole other level in 2014. Last season Houston finished with a jaw-dropping 22 sacks, which actually doubled his total from the 2013 season. He also added in 59 tackles which was also the most in his career.

Now, Houston can continue to dominate from the defensive side of the ball for the Chiefs, only now he can do it as the richest linebacker to ever play the game.

As for Houston, well, he seems understandably excited to get this all over and done with.
