Jimbo Fisher and the Florida State Seminoles have done rather well for themselves on the recruiting trail in recent years, but that doesn’t mean that they’re immune from a top recruit deciding that he doesn’t want to play his football in Tallahassee. On Tuesday, the Seminoles lost a pretty good one in Isaac Nauta.

The five-star tight end from the IMG Academy has been committed to Florida State for quite a while now, but on Tuesday he let it be known that he’s de-committing from Fisher and the ‘Noles, opening up his recruitment once again.

According to the folks at 247 Sports, Nauta is the No. 1 tight end recruit in the nation. Therefore, this is going to be a rather interesting sweepstakes going forward.

Recently Nauta made a trip to visit the Texas Longhorns, and not long after the visit they slapped an offer on the table. Of course, when something like this happens, you automatically have to look where the recruit was last — it only makes sense. So at first glance, you’d think that the Texas visit went more than well.

But being the top tight end in the country, you can never really speculate too much. Nauta has offers from a varieties of programs, including Arizona State, Alabama, Georgia and California.

There’s a long time between now and the first Wednesday in February, but it looks like Nauta will not be signing his name on the dotted line for the Florida State Seminoles.
