Florida State running back Dalvin Cook was found not guilty on Monday of the misdemeanor battery charge

Florida State Seminoles running back Dalvin Cook was in court for over 10 hours on Monday, as the trial for his misdemeanor battery charge took place. After all of that time spent in the courtroom, the verdict is in and Cook has been found not guilty.

A six-person jury was on hand for the trial Monday and after hearing all of the testimony, it took them less than a half hour to come back with the verdict of not guilty.

Cook was accused of striking a woman outside of a bar in Tallahassee back in June, and since then his status for the season has been in question. Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher did not dismiss Cook from the team entirely, instead waiting for the facts to come out and due process to take place. That took place on Monday and the Seminoles will presumably have their best running back for the up coming season.

Last year in his true freshman season for the Seminoles, Cook carried the ball 170 times for 1,008 yards and eight touchdowns. Coming into this season, he’s expected to carry a lot of the load in the offense, and with this situation that standing was very much in jeopardy.

Now, it appears that Cook can begin preparing for the season opener against Texas State which is now in less than two weeks.
