Kam Chancellor and the Seahawks are basically a few steak dinners apart in their negotiations
Kam Chancellor and the Seattle Seahawks are oh so close, yet oh so far away in contract negotiations.

The Seattle Seahawks and Kam Chancellor are currently at an impasse with the safety’s contract negotiations. As the waters have grown increasingly muddied, Chancellor has not practiced with the team. He also will not play in Sunday’s opener against the St. Louis Rams.
So just how far apart are the team and Legion of Boom stalwart? In what is surely infuriating to any member of the 12th Man, the two parties are less than $1 million away from reaching an agreement. According to Ian Rapoport, Chancelleor wants $9 million for the 2016 season; Seattle has dug in firmly at $8.1 million. A paltry (by athlete contract standards) amount of $900,000 is keeping the Pro Bowl safety from the field.
Remember when Dez Bryant got stuck with a $55,000 meal by teammates when he was a rookie? To put things into perspective, Chancellor and the Seahawks are basically eight of those dinners away from being all square.
At 27-years-old, Chancellor is hitting his prime. During his five years in the league he’s been one of the game’s top safeties, as well as a member of one of the league’s best defensive units. He’s been to three Pro Bowls, recorded eight interceptions, forced six fumbles and amassed 312 tackles.
Seahawks owner Paul Allen has said that the team is done negotiating with Chancellor, which is highly unlikely. However, with every week that the safety isn’t on the field the distraction his absence is causing will likely grow exponentially and continue to spill out through the media.
