Julio Jones caught the Falcons’ first touchdown of the season after fighting through the Philly defense

The Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles was expected to kick off Monday Night Football in a big way with a ton of offense. Through one quarter of play, though, it was a grind-it-out affair in the Georgia Dome with only three points getting on the board. However, Julio Jones decided that someone needed to get in the endzone once the second quarter rolled around.

After 10 plays and 84 yards at the second quarter, the Falcons only needed four more yards to get the six points. That’s when Matt Ryan tossed a screen to the left to Jones and Jones muscled his way through the Eagles defense to stretch across the goal line and score the Falcons’ first touchdown of the season:

We know that Jones has breakaway speed and big play ability, but it’s things like this that are a forgotten part of his arsenal. He’s a fighter and has the strength to make things happen on such instances.

Through a quarter and a half, Jones already has six catches for 66 yards and the touchdown seen above. I think it’s safe to say he’s due for a big year in Atlanta.
