UCLA Bruins vs. Arizona Wildcats

Two of the four undefeated teams left in the Pac-12 will meet on Saturday night as the ninth-ranked UCLA Bruins travel to Arizona Stadium to play the 16th-ranked Arizona Wildcats. Anu Solomon, Nick Wilson and Jerrard Randall will try to carry the Wildcats offense over top the Bruins offense led by freshman quarterback Josh Rosen and running back Paul Perkins. The result should be a high-scoring battle between two of the most exciting offenses in the country with the winner coming out with a stronghold on the Pac-12 early in the 2015 college football season.

Keys to Victory

Perhaps the biggest storyline coming into this huge matchup for UCLA is their young quarterback in Rosen. Watching him play, it’s incredibly apparent that he is an immensely talented young man. However, in his first taste of top-25 action last week in the Bruins’ narrow victory over the BYU Cougars, Rosen looked quite awful and was bailed out by a heroic effort from Perkins and the Bruins defense in the comeback. As UCLA goes on the road against another top-25 opponent and against a team in the conference, Rosen is going to have to show a great deal more maturity in running the offense if he wants to keep his Bruins undefeated.

For the Wildcats, we’ve seen how impressive that their offense can look. No matter who you’re playing, throwing for 778 yards, 10 touchdowns, and no interceptions is impressive and is also exactly what Solomon has done through the first three games of the season. Nick Wilson has also been a workhorse in the running game with 434 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. However, the question does remain as to what their offense will look like against top-level competition. How their offense responds to by far the best defense that they’ve faced this season will determine whether or not they can knock off the Bruins.

Prediction

Ultimately, this game has the feeling of one that comes down to a shootout. There’s no denying Rosen’s talent for UCLA, but it’s also hard to discount his struggles against BYU. In the end, I think Rosen’s inexperience costs the Bruins a win in this game.

Final Score: UCLA Bruins 38, Arizona Wildcats 44
