Butch Jones thought he beat Florida on missed field goal (Video)

The Tennessee Volunteers almost beat Florida, and Butch Jones thought a field goal that missed might have maybe gone in.

It was another classic showdown between Florida and Tennessee on Saturday, and things came right down to the very last second. After going up 20-7 early on in the game, the Vols looked like they were going to control things and spoil a Saturday in Gainesville. Not only would they have ruined Gator fans day, but they were on their way to picking up their first win against Florida since 2004.

That almost happened too, and Tennessee was so convinced that they had gotten over the hump that they celebrated a missed field goal that didn’t win them the game.

After Florida went up 28-27 on an impeccable 4th and 14 conversion that ended up a touchdown, the Vols marched down the field and set themselves up for a long but makable field goal shock everyone in Gainesville. Tennessee even got bailed out of a first attempt when Florida iced the kicker, but that ended up not mattering in the end. The Vols barely missed the field goal at the end of the game and it looked like it might hook in.

It so convincingly looked like it might hook in that Butch Jones started celebrating with Joshua Dobbs a little too early.

This went from being a signature Butch Jones moment at Tennessee to a signature moment in celebrating too early and another hard way for Butch to end his Saturday.
