LSU running back Leonard Fournette had a typical day for his standards against Syracuse in a victory on the road.

LSU sophomore RB Leonard Fournette is already a star in college football. He had a terrific freshman season but has turned this year into something special already through two games. Coming into today’s game vs Syracuse, Fournette had 387 yards on 47 carries with six rushing touchdowns.

Well, the New Orleans native decided to add on to his impressive totals today. He put up 244 yards with two TDs in a 34-24 win over the Orange. This was six yards shot of the all-time LSU rushing record of 250 yards.

Fournette’s first TD came on a short burst on a draw play.

Fournette’s second TD was even more impressive. He broke away for a 62-yard run with no Syracuse defender laying a finger on him.

This big day for Fournette leaves him at 631 yards with eight rushing TDs through three games. These totals put him towards the front of the 2015 Heisman Trophy race, maybe even making him the front-runner.

Today’s performance drew comparisons to former multi-sport star Bo Jackson from the ESPN announce team. Fans are also comparing Fournette to Adrian Peterson, who dominated college football for the Oklahoma Sooners from 2004-2006. He was selected 7th overall by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2007 NFL Draft.

More performances like this from Fournette will put him into consideration as a top-10 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, maybe going higher than Peterson.
