West Virginia runs successful fake punt vs Maryland up 38-0
By Jack Crosby
Now West Virginia is just out there trolling Maryland as they punish them, running a fake punt up 38-0 in this one
The West Virginia Mountaineers welcomed in the Maryland Terrapins on Saturday and, well, they pretty much put a beating on their opponents from the Big Ten. They were merciless in this one as they tried to prove some kind of point, and the play you’re about to see is pretty much proof of that.
West Virginia was pounding away in this one in the third quarter already up 38-0 when they were forced with a fourth down situation. Of course, it was time to punt it away and just let Maryland fail on the offensive side of the ball again.
Well, the thing was, West Virginia didn’t really feel like punting all that much. No, instead, Dana Holgorsen called for the fake punt, which actually worked.
Don’t really know if there is some beef between Holgorsen and Randy Edsall, but this play right here might be proof that maybe the two don’t get along all that well with one another. There might be no other explanation as to why West Virginia would run the fake at this point in the game.
Nonetheless, it’s pretty entertaining to watch if you’re someone that can’t stand Maryland.
