The Oregon Duck responds to Samuel L. Jackson

The Oregon Duck has fired back at Samuel L. Jackson

Most of the college football world spent last weekend piling on Oregon following Utah’s 62-20 dismantling of the Ducks in Eugene, and with good reason. The Utes embarrassed the Ducks in every facet of the game, leaving the normally raucous Autzen crowd stunned silent. Even award-winning actor Samuel L. Jackson couldn’t resist taking a shot at the Ducks, who plummeted out of the AP Top 25 for the first time in years.
On Monday the Oregon mascot — “The Duck,” not “Puddles,” which is is the a whole can of worms I don’t want to open right now — responded to Jackson, altering the footage from one Jackson’s most famous Pulp Fiction scenes.
Will this actor-vs-mascot beef continue? Probably not. It doesn’t seem like the The Duck wants to go toe-to-toe with Jules Winnfield, which is understandable. It’s kind of difficult to aggressively clap back after losing by 42 points at home.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Ducks come out against the Colorado Buffaloes this weekend. Dissatisfaction is high in Eugene, with many fans grumbling about head coach Mark Helfrich. Local media has gone hog-wild with the end-of-an-era rhetoric, and another poor showing by the Ducks, even in a win, will only add fuel to the fire.
My advice to Oregon fans: don’t panic … yet.
