Well this probably won’t help public perception of Greg Hardy: a rap video of Hardy and rapper Ja Alan has surfaced. Titled “I’m just me,” the video features all the natural posturing you’d expect out of an athlete masquerading as a hip hop star.

The most notable parts that will likely draw vitriol from critics are sounds of gunfire and a pejorative verse about women. According to TMZ, the video was filmed during Hardy’s suspension from the NFL during 2014.

"Right before Hardy spits his featured verse, a chorus of gunfire rings out. He then raps about women — saying, “It’ll be a cold day in hell before your girl tries to play me.”"

Below is the video, featuring Hardy and Ja Alan.

This week has been one full of soundbites for both Hardy and critics. First the Cowboys defensive end commented on his love of playing against Tom Brady, mainly because it means Brady’s supermodel wife, Gisele Bunchen, is somewhere in the area.

Then Hardy made waves when claiming he plans to come out “guns blazing” in Sunday’s game against the Patriots. Hardy was arrested last year for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and throwing her on a bed littered with guns. The statement drew widespread criticism from notable media figures such as Christine Brennan and Katie Nolan.

The video and song are just another public misstep for a guy who can’t seem to stay out of his own way at the moment.
