Minnesota Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic shows he is no pushover by launching medicine ball into stands during workouts.

When you’re nursing your way back from an Achilles surgery, there isn’t much you can do while on your feet. For professional athletes, that means a lot of work on cardio and upper body strength in order to keep themselves in game shape.

For Minnesota Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic, that work appears to be working for him.

The Timberwolves posted a video earlier today to showcase the type of workouts that Pekovic has been doing while recovering from his April surgery. Apparently, they include using a two-hand chest pass to launch a three-pound medicine ball 15 rows deep into the stands.

What’s more impressive is that the team indicates he may have been shooting the medicine ball as far as 20 rows back earlier in the day. While I’m not sure what benefit that may have for Pekovic in the paint, it’s certainly fun to watch this monster toss it around like a tic-tac.

After averaging a career-high 17.5 points and 8.7 rebounds in 2013-14, Pekovic was held to just 31 games in 2014-15 and was forced to get his Achilles repaired in April of last season. Still the 6ft 11in, 285lbs beast managed 12.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest in those 32 appearances (29 starts).

The Timberwolves may want to find a way to get the Achilles to heal a bit faster if they want him for Opening Night. As of Monday morning, it is still questionable whether or not he’ll be ready for the season opener on Wednesday October 28th against the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center.
