Week 8 is the time to put these five NFL teams on upset alert

There were still five NFL teams without a loss on their record heading into Week 8, a seemingly high number at this point in the season. After the New England Patriots earned a victory on Thursday Night Football, one of those undefeated teams kept a blemish off of their record to this point. However, at least one of the league’s unbeaten won’t be able to say the same this week.

The marquee matchup for Week 8 is without question the Sunday Night Football showdown between the Green Bay Packers and the Denver Broncos. Both teams will come into Denver on Sunday night at 6-0, but having gotten to that record in very different ways.

Even with the loss of Jordy Nelson in the preseason and early season struggles from Eddie Lacy, the Packers’ offense has remained a machine with Aaron Rodgers at the helm. Green Bay has arguably looked more dangerous than any other team in the NFL when they have the ball.

In stark contrast are the Broncos who have surprisingly had their share of offensive struggles in their six victories to open the season. However, their defense has been the most fearsome in the league to this point in every facet on that side of the ball. Subsequently, it’ll be strength vs. strength on Sunday night in Denver when the Packers and Broncos meet up. Whichever strength wins out, there will be one less undefeated team in the league at the end of Week 8.

Despite that fact that an unbeaten team is going to lose on Sunday, you can’t say that the Broncos or Packers are on upset alert in Week 8 because losing to another undefeated team isn’t exactly an upset; it’s simply two relative equals facing off and one prevailing over another.

However, that still leaves two undefeated teams heading into this week that could be in danger of an upset. Moreover, there are a several teams that are either favored to win, up against a team with a far worse record, or all of the above that could be in danger of getting knocked off come Sunday afternoon. The craziness in the NFL and the parity throughout the league has yet to die down through the first seven weeks of the season so there’s no reason to believe that Week 8 is going to yield different results.

All things considered, it’s time to put these five NFL teams on upset alert:
