The Atlanta Falcons’ players have taken matters into their own hands by holding a players only meeting.

How the mighty have fallen. The Falcons’ were flying high through the first five weeks of the season. Julio Jones was doing Julio Jones things. Matt Ryan was slinging the ball all over the place and Devonta Freeman looked like the best running back in the league. All this offenseive power combined with a defense led by former Seattle Seahawks’ defensive coordinator Dan Quinn created a winning football team. So much so, that the Falcons raced out to 5-0 and then 6-1 two weeks later.

However, since then Ryan has begun throwing to the wrong team, Julio has looked banged up and the defense has become rather leaky. The Falcons have now lost four straight, and such issues have led to the players taking drastic action. According to multiple team sources, the players held the meeting on Tuesday after Sunday’s 20-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

The Falcons are still in the hunt for a playoff berth in the NFC, however they possess one of the toughest schedules in the NFL. Travelling to Tampa Bay on Sunday, Atlanta now faces three consecutive road games and still have to take on the undefeated Carolina Panthers twice.

Such a tough schedule, alongside poor form means that the postseason is but a mere possibility. Regardless, Matt Ryan and the rest of the players are doing everything possible to make it a reality.
