North Carolina State Wolfpack vs Mississippi State Bulldogs

If there was one team who fell through the cracks in the SEC, it has to be the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Ranked near the top of the country at one point in 2014, Mississippi State was hoping for a more impressive 2015 campaign, but that didn’t necessarily happen. That doesn’t mean that the Bulldogs haven’t been impressive.

Dak Prescott has had a quiet season, but is still putting up some serious numbers for the Bulldogs. If they’re going to beat North Carolina State, it will be up to the quarterback play.

Jacoby Brissett is that guy for North Carolina State as the Wolfpack offense has been riding his success all year long. The Wolfpack got off to a hot start this season at 4-0, but a 3-5 finish to the year kept them from competing for an ACC title.

North Carolina State has a serious shot to take out a solid SEC team and fans will get to see two of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the country duke it out for the Belk Bowl.

Keys to Victory

North Carolina State Wolfpack

Jacoby Brissett is going to be relied on heavily in the Belk Bowl against a decent passing defense, so if he can scramble and pick some yards up with his legs, which will be crucial. Mississippi State gives up about 171 yards per game on the ground, which needs to be taken advantage of.

Defensively, the Wolfpack must make it a priority to stop Dak Prescott from putting up big yardage with his arm and legs. Contain him and a win could be likely.

Mississippi State Bulldogs

The Bulldogs will also need to rely on their quarterback in this one. Prescott is one of the best dual-threats in the country and will need to have a solid game against a relatively stingy passing defense like North Carolina State’s.

Without a solid run game, Mississippi State will need to try and sling the ball around while putting some pressure on Brissett on the defensive side of the ball.

Betting Odds

Point Spread: Mississippi State -6
Moneyline: Mississippi State -240, North Carolina State +200
O/U: 60.5

Predictions

Brissett and Prescott will battle it out for dual-threat supremacy and the game will be somewhat low-scoring and close until the very end with the Bulldogs pulling it out with a touchdown in the final quarter to go ahead 28-24 for good.

Final Score: North Carolina State 24, Mississippi State 28
