To make things worse for Iowa, Stanford threw a late touchdown pass to up the score.
The 2016 Rose Bowl game was a highly anticipated contest. It pitted the Stanford Cardinal and Iowa Hawkeyes, two teams who barely missed out on the College Football Playoff, against each other.
Unfortunately for Iowa, they got trounced by Stanford from the moment the game began. At halftime, the score was 35-0. They couldn’t stop the powerful Cardinal offense, led by Christian McCaffrey, who set the Rose Bowl all-purpose yardage record.
In the 4th quarter, the game was still out of reach, but Stanford continued to push the ball down field to add to stats and increase their lead. Part of this can be attributed to a 42-yard touchdown pass from Stanford quarterback Kevin Hogan, who hit Michael Rector to make the game 45-16.

The score wouldn’t change from here as Stanford won this game 45-16.
This game was complete domination from the Pac-12 team. They ran over a tough Iowa squad who had one of the best defenses in the country in the 2015 season. It made the outcome surprising, but with dominant players on the offensive side of the ball, Stanford came out on top in this one to close their season.
