NBA Trade Rumors: Blake Griffin to the Denver Nuggets?
The Los Angeles Clippers may be looking to trade Blake Griffin to the Denver Nuggets, according to sources.
Doc Rivers may be attempting to make a big move, according to a recent tweet posted by Mitch Lawrence.
This may mean a simple phone call was made to gauge interest, not necessarily a concrete offer that is about to happen. If it happens, trading Griffin would be a major move, and one that does not seem necessary right now. The Los Angeles Clippers are currently fourth in the Western Conference, and are poised to make another run at their first NBA championship.
The only problem is that fans and management are getting impatient in Los Angeles. After several early playoff exits, Rivers may be trying to change things up with the thought that the current roster can’t win a title. He also needs to do something to ensure that he will still have a job this summer.
Griffin is under contract for two more seasons, so he is an attractive player in a trade, as opposed to someone who would basically serve as a rental for the playoffs. With the Nuggets in particular, the Clippers are likely looking to acquire Kenneth Faried at the least. Danilo Galinari may also be a target, which would be a great deal for the Nuggets. They have yet to have a great deal of success with the two players on the team, so adding Griffin could allow the Nuggets to start building a playoff-worthy team.
The only problem is that the Clippers have shown that building around Blake has not resulted in too much playoff success, but a change of scenery may be enough to spark Griffin and the players around him.
