Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Karl-Anthony Towns savagely destroyed New York Knicks rookie Kristaps Porzingis’ shot.

There was a battle between two of the top rookies in the NBA on Saturday night. the New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves did battle in Minneapolis, and so did Karl-Anthony Towns and Kristaps Porzingis. The two Rookie of the Year candidates went back and forth at each other, but on one particular play, Towns got the better of Porzingis with a vicious block.

As Porzingis drove the paint, Towns went up high to match his counterpart and savagely destroyed Porzingis’ shot with a monster block that landed way up in the stands.

There’s nothing quite like watching the future of the NBA go at it, but to see Towns make a move like that for his age is absolutely incredible. That’s not a typical rookie block, that’s a grown man block and Towns electrified the crowd with his big defensive performance.

Towns is a big guy, but Porzingis is so tall, that it’s even more amazing that he was able to get up and swat his shot away. If there’s going to be a highlight clip of the best blocks of the season, Towns just had one of the best this season.
