The Chicago Bears and Atlanta Falcons have emerged as the two strongest bidders for linebacker Danny Trevathan

One of the added benefits of being a Super Bowl champion is that free agents can cash in on their accomplishment. Former Denver Broncos linebacker Danny Trevathan is in a great position to do that after a strong 2015 season. The Atlanta Falcons and Chicago Bears have emerged as the two strongest pushers to sign the Super Bowl champion.

Trevathan needed to have a strong 2015 season to cash in as a free agent after injuries derailed his 2014 season. That’s precisely what he did in 2015. He had 109 tackles and two interceptions, returning one of them for a touchdown, in 15 games during the 2015 season. While he is not a pass rusher, he is solid against the run and has proven that he can handle his own in pass coverage. Danny Trevathan also added 22 tackles in three playoff games during their Super Bowl run.

Trevathan is best utilized as a 4-3 linebacker since he is almost exclusively used to stop the run and in pass coverage since he isn’t that good at rushing the passer. He would be a perfect fit for either the Bears or the Falcons since both teams desperately need some athleticism in their linebacking core.
