NCAA Bracket 2016: West Region preview
The 2016 NCAA Tournament Field is set and the Oregon Ducks are the No. 1 seed in the West Region of the bracket.
On Sunday, the 2016 NCAA Tournament Field officially became set and there were a couple regions that people were immediately drawn to on the bracket. One of those regions in particular that will have a lot of interest from basketball is the West Region.
There are some heavyweights in the region that will battle for the right to go to the Final Four and the West Region is led by the No. 1 seed Oregon Ducks. The Ducks absolutely destroyed the Utah Utes in the Pac-12 Conference Championship Game and because of their tremendously strong season, including three wins over the Arizona Wildcats, the committee liked the team enough to make them the No. 1 seed.
The Ducks will play the winner of the First Four game between No. 16 Holy Cross and No. 16 Southern. Behind Oregon in the region is the No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners. The Sooners almost pulled off an improbable win in the Big 12 Tournament behind Buddy Hield, but they possess a great seed in a loaded West Region.
Other heavyweights in the West Region include the Duke Blue Devils, Texas A&M Aggies and the Baylor Bears. Along with those three teams, there are some other intriguing, smaller teams in the region, such as UNC Wilmington, Northern Iowa and VCU.
This region has the potential for chaos and plenty of upsets. With the region set to get underway on Thursday, here’s a preview of what to look for in the West Region.
