Live scoring updates for Florida Gulf Coast Eagles vs North Carolina Tar Heels in the 2016 NCAA Tournament

The Florida Gulf Coast Eagles played in the opening First Four game of the 2016 NCAA Tournament and looked much better than a No. 16 seed as they absolutely demolished the Farleigh Dickinson Knights. However, their task is going to be far less kind on Thursday as they take the floor for the First Round of the NCAA Tournament against the No. 1-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels.

The Tar Heels, though they suffered some tough losses early in the season, finished the year strong to garner some momentum coming into the NCAA Tournament. They capped off the regular season with yet another dominant Brice Johnson performance in a victory over rival Duke that clinched the regular season ACC crown. The Tar Heels then went into their conference tournament and played their best basketball all season behind the emergence of Joel Berry to win the ACC tourney as well.

Florida Gulf Coast gained a bit of notoriety a few years ago with their Dunk City run as a No. 15 seed, but now have a different coach and set of players. Even still, the likes of Christian Terrell and Marc Eddy Norelia are exciting and shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Let’s be honest, a No. 16 has never toppled a No. 1 and that’s likely not going to change this year. However, if it does, you’ll want to be sure you’re watching and keeping up with it, so be sure to keep up with this contest.
