NCAA Tournament 2016: Fresno State vs Utah live scoring tracker
A look at the live scoring results from the NCAA Tournament First Round game between Fresno State and Utah.
For the first time in 15 years, the Fresno State Bulldogs are back in the NCAA Tournament and they have themselves quite the battle on hand if they want to make their first trip back an extended stay in March Madness. The No. 14 Bulldogs will square off against the No. 3 Utah Utes in a Midwest Region battle on Thursday, where the Bulldogs will have to do everything in their power to stop a physically imposing Utes team.
As the winners of the Mountain West Conference, Fresno State played some heavy hitters along the way that should give them plenty of preparation to go up and battle against Utah center Jakob Poeltl. Poeltl has been one of the best centers in the country this year and he’s expected by many to be one of the top picks in the NBA Draft.
The Bulldogs will have to up their defensive pressure, as the Utes were the best shooting team in the Pac-12 this season and one of the best in the nation overall. They can pound the ball inside behind Poeltl, or they can bounce it outside and hit the big shot behind Brandon Taylor.
The Bulldogs will depend on senior Marvelle Harris to lead them to victory. Harris has set the tone all season for the Bulldogs and he brings relentless energy to absolutely every single play. It should be a fun battle between schools with plenty of experience against each other.
