South Dakota State vs Maryland

On Friday, one of the No. 5 vs No. 12 seed matchups will take place with the Maryland Terrapins battling the South Dakota State Roadrunners. The winner will play whoever comes out of the No. 4 Cal vs No. 13 Hawaii game on Sunday in the NCAA Tournament.

Maryland is coming off an early exit from the Big Ten Conference Tournament. They were ousted by the Michigan State Spartans, who went on to win the tournament on Sunday. The Terrapins had been struggling a bit coming into the game, having lost four of their previous six contests. It’s not a great look for them heading into the NCAA Tournament where the season is always on the line.

Maryland will need top play out of guard Melo Trimble who is coming off a poor performance against MSU. He shot 2 for 15 from the field and obviously, that can’t happen if this team wants to advance in the Big Dance.

South Dakota State has had some NCAA Tournament success in recent years. They will be looking to continue it after winning the Summit League. They will need all the help possible from players like Mike Daum and George Marshall.
