A look at when the Sweet 16 for the 2016 March Madness tips off

There’s no better time of year in college basketball and in sports than March Madness, a point that’s only been proven even further with the 2016 NCAA Tournament given the huge upsets and major excitement that has taken place already. However, things are only going to get wilder as we get deeper into March Madness, starting with the Sweet 16 next round.

There’s a lot of prestige in simply making it to the Sweet 16 for many programs. Not only does it start to make the picture as to who is a viable contender for the national championship clearer, but there are also always a few Cinderella candidates still hanging around looking to further bust brackets by taking out teams that many people around the country had winning it all.

However, there’s always a brief respite after the first two rounds of March Madness before the insanity of the Sweet 16 gets underway. Subsequently, many college hoops fans may be asking when the Sweet 16 officially gets underway.

For 2016 March Madness, the Sweet 16 will tip off on Thursday, March 24 with the first game getting started in the early afternoon. There will be four games on Thursday and four games on Friday with all 16 teams remaining at that point looking to get one step closer to a title.
