March Madness 2016: Top 5 moments of the NCAA Tournament second round
3. Texas A&M’s miraculous comeback
Things were not looking promising for the SEC’s regular season champ and conference tournament runner-up, Texas A&M. Facing what looked to be this year’s Cinderella team in Northern Iowa, the Aggies were down by 10 points with under a minute left.
Who knew that a full-court trap on an unsuspecting Northern Iowa team without one of its star players on the court would lead to an exciting finish to regulation.
A few steals and errant passes later, the Aggies found themselves down by two with under 15 seconds left. One more steal and a tricky layup brought the score even at 71, heading into overtime. Northern Iowa absolutely melted, allowing the third-seeded Aggies to avoid a double-digit loss.
How over did the game look when the Aggies were down by 10 with just over 30 seconds left? Even college basketball expert Seth Davis “Sharpied” the Panthers into the Sweet 16.

Down by 10 with 35 seconds left and the Aggies didn’t even have to foul once. Texas A&M made the most unbelievable comeback of the tournament thus far, topping Little Rock’s 13-point bounce-back with over three minutes left against Purdue in round one.
