The Villanova broadcast call of the buzzer-beater that won them the National Championship is incredible

The 2016 National Championship was always going to be a highly interesting, tightly contested game between the Villanova Wildcats and the North Carolina Tar Heels. These had been two of the best teams all season and throughout March Madness. However, no one could have predicted the drama that Kris Jenkins provided in making this one an all-time classic.

After North Carolina point guard Marcus Paige hit a crazy three to tie the game with only four seconds left, Villanova had one last chance to get the win. Ryan Arcidiacono drew the defense in as he took the ball up the floor and then dished to a deep, open Jenkins. The junior sunk the three as time expired for the win and to earn Villanova the title.

While anyone watching that would have been excited, there may not have been anyone more excited than the Villanova broadcasters as they watched the buzzer-beater fall to clinch the National Championship:

You’d have to guess that the North Carolina call may not have been quite as enthusiastic, but that’s just conjecture.

That was truly one of the great shots and great moments in the history of March Madness and college basketball. Not only is it going to highlight ‘One Shining Moment’ to cap off the college basketball season, but it’s also going to be seen on highlight reels for decades to come. Hopefully it’ll be accompanied by the epic Villanova broadcast call.
