Martin Prado has been on an absolute tear at the plate over the first month of the season for the Miami Marlins. With him off to such a blistering start, fantasy owners should add him off the waiver wire.

Martin Prado has been the consummate professional his entire 11 year career, and is currently off to the best offensive start of his career. He has not been a fantasy dynamo by any means, but he has proven to be a great glue player that stabilizes a fantasy lineup.

Prado is a career .293 AVG hitter, has amassed nearly 300 doubles, and has never struck out more than 86 times in a single season over his entire career. Clearly, he has the acumen and track record to be trusted in fantasy, especially while hitting at the rate that he is currently.

His current season stat line reads, .410 AVG/9 RBI/8 R/.934 OPS/32 Hits. That type of line is straight out of a video game, and what is even more impressive, is that he has four three hit games over just last week. Over the last two weeks, he has a, .475 AVG and 1.037 OPS.

Prado has been normally slotted near  the top of the order, usually in the two hole, allowing him the counting stat boost that Giancarlo Stanton and co. bring. Now if Dee Gordon was not caught cheating, his fantasy outlook would be even better, but even in his current situation he is well worth a look on the waiver wire.

He will not offer any power, as he has not eclipsed 10 HR in two years, and he longer swipes the occasional bag after nagging injuries have made it not worth the risk. Prado is certainly not foreign to a D.L. stint, but he has played in at least 106 games since 2009, so he will find ways to get on the field.

Prado should qualify at both 2B and 3B, which serves as a nice fantasy boost as well. While he may be boring, there is nothing wrong with a .280+ hitter than can offer 60 R and 60 RBI, out of a MI or CI spot in a lineup. Fantasy owners should act fast and add him while he is still on an absolute tear at the plate, there is no need to allow his hot start to be waster on the waiver wire.
