Jose Mourinho has been appointed the manager of Manchester United, meaning he will restore the club to its glory days.

Emotions are running at an all-time high in the red half of Manchester. Only hours after they won the FA Cup, capturing their first trophy in the post-Ferguson era, the club announced the appointment of Jose Mourinho as their next manager, ending a nearly six-month negotiation period.

It is perhaps the only time that a trophy win has been overshadowed, but that’s exactly what Mourinho’s appointment has done. Winning the FA Cup is special, especially given that it was United’s first since 2004, but hiring the Special One means that Manchester United will be restored to their glory days.

Obviously, Manchester United fans had a similar feeling when Louis van Gaal was appointed, and that went very poorly. But Mourinho’s resume is far superior to Van Gaal’s, at the Premier League level and elsewhere. And while Van Gaal inherited a team that finished seventh in the Premier League and went trophyless, Mourinho is inheriting a young core that is fresh off an FA Cup win.

Mourinho will only be good for developing those youngsters to reach their full potential, as well as attracting high-end transfer targets. Even if he only lasts for three seasons, the most he’s lasted at any job, it’ll be the best three seasons Manchester United have had since the Alex Ferguson era.

There are many reasons why, but here are five reasons why Jose Mourinho can turn Manchester United’s fortunes a.ound right away.
