What will be the speed limit on pit road for the 2016 Indy 500.

The 100th Indy 500 is almost here and that means that the best drivers in the world are going to be racing for the right to put themselves into the history books by winning one of the biggest races in the world.

With drivers hitting record speeds in qualifying and practice in recent weeks, it means that the track is going to be running faster than ever, which is going to make it tougher to slow down while coming down pit road.

Just as it is every year, the speed limit down pit road will be 60 mph. That means that cars traveling in excess around 230 mph, will have to really do their best to grind to a halt before coming in to get work done on their car.

While the track is plenty big enough to slow down, every second is precious to a driver and having a great pit stop is an absolute must in the race. Plenty of races at the Indy 500 have been won or loss based on a good or bad pit stop before.
