Jameson Taillon is one of the top pitching prospects in all of baseball and has been for years. Which is why he is a perfect sell-high candidate.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have recently called up pitching prospect, Jameson Taillon. It was only a matter of time before this stud, right-hander made his way up to the big leagues. It would have been much sooner had he not been sidelined due having Tommy John surgery in April of 2014. He has been working his way back to form since.

He is said to be just as good if not better than he was before the surgery took pance. He will certainly be a force to be reckoned with for many years to come. For this season though, he should be sold high.

Jameson Taillon was selected second overall in the 2010 First-Year Player draft behind only the likes of Bryce Harper. Since returning from injury, Taillon has been highly impressive in the minor leagues for the Pirates, hence his recent call up.

In two MLB starts for the Pittsburgh this year, he showed why he is regarded as one of the games best, young prospects. He has thrown for 14 innings through his first two starts where he has a accumulated a 1.93 ERA and eight strikeouts. Not to mention, Taillon had a no-hitter through six innings in just his second MLB start.

With all of this being said, these are high selling points for him this year. He should be sold due to the fact that he will undoubtedly be on an innings limit. Most MLB clubs prefer this route to preserve their young arms for the future, especially when they are working their way back from Tommy John. Better safe than sorry, right?

We’ve seen this done to multiple pitchers in recent memory such as Stephen Strasburg, Jose Fernandez, and Matt Harvey. It has ultimately been for the better.

Unless you are in a keeper league, Jameson Taillon is a must sell this season for your team. He may not even hold his position for very much longer once current Pirates ace Gerrit Cole returns from a triceps injury. Taillon can easily be sold for a top-25 pitcher this season, especially with what he has been able to do thus far in just two starts.

You may have to package another slightly lower valued pitcher in the deal, but a trade can easily be made for someone of equal quality. Pitchers such as Chris Tillman, Justin Verlander, Corey Kluber, or Cole Hamels can all be targets for you when attempting to deal Taillon.

Taillon will not be able to help your team later in the season and playoff time. He will be on the bench resting for next year. Take advantage of this top prospect and what he has been able to do so far, and trade him for someone who will be able to help you come playoffs.

Jameson Taillon has not had this type of workload in quite some time, so he may eventually tire. Trade him while he is producing. Someone will bite and you’ll be better in the long term because of it.
