The Edmonton Oilers found a way to waste an incredible talent in Taylor Hall. Here are three reasons they lost the Hall trade.

Change in Edmonton was needed after the Edmonton Oilers underwent a decade of mediocrity and pain. Number one picks did very little to change the fortune of the franchise. However, thanks to getting the chance to draft players like Connor McDavid and Taylor Hall, the Oilers at least had a bright future. All they needed to do was get some defensemen. Well, they got a defenseman. But they got a very mediocre one in Adam Larsson and in order to get him, they traded an elite wing in Hall.

Just when it looked like the Oilers knew what they were doing, they proved to the world that, nope, they are still as lost as ever. In fact, they are even worse off today than they were before they drafted McDavid. Losing a talent like Hall is never an easy thing. However, losing one for such a low price is outright crippling. Ask the Montreal Canadiens if they have gotten over the Patrick Roy trade yet. Twenty years from now, people will view the Oilers trade of Hall for Larsson in the same manner, if not worse.

Here are three reasons why the Oilers lost the Hall trade and why they will regret trading him for Larsson.
