It is now down the stretch as we reach the latter point in the fantasy season. With playoffs around the corner, here are some pick ups on the waiver wire to help you succeed.

There are many players that can help your team in the upcoming weeks as we inch closer and closer to playoffs. These are players I have had my eye on all season and are beginning to turn heads. If you are in need of pitching or batting help, these three men can give you a boost.

All three of these players are owned in less than 50 percent of leagues, so you should not have a problem adding them to your roster. Strike while the iron is hot.

Zach Eflin (SP) – Phillies

Zach Eflin is easily my number one pick for a waiver wire add this upcoming week, and perhaps for multiple weeks to come. Eflin, aside from his MLB debut last month, has been on an absolute tear and has been dominating MLB lineups in his first stint in the majors. He has just made eight starts this season for Philadelphia and has opened eyes around the entire MLB.

Eflin has thrown six consecutive quality starts after his first two this season. Excluding his first start, the right-hander has gone at least 5.2 innings without sacrificing more than three runs in a given start. He also has not allowed more than seven hits in any appearance this year while allowing minimal walks. He has shown excellent command with his pitches.

The only downfall with him, is he does not have a tremendous strikeout rate, but from what I am seeing, it doesn’t even matter.

On the season so far, Eflin has is 3-3 record with 26 strikeouts and 3.40 ERA. In two of his previous four starts, the 22-year-old has thrown two complete games; one being a shut out. He has a very impressive WHIP which currently stands at 1.05. Eflin is only owned in 15.5 percent of leagues, so he will be available for most of you to grab.

Jose Reyes (SS/3B) – Mets

Why not pick up Jose Reyes? He has been one of the most consistent players the game has seen since his debut years ago. We all know what had happened earlier this year regarding his suspension. What matters now is that he can help you perhaps help you win some money in your respective fantasy leagues. He is back with the Mets once again and ready to contribute.

It seems that Reyes hasn’t missed a beat. He is often a slow starter which could contribute to his .246 batting average. It will begin to improve as he receives more at bats. Reyes now has a duel position tag. He can play third base now as well as his traditional position, shortstop, which makes him even more valuable. He has still shown solid speed as he is 3/4 when stealing bases this season.

He has hit safely in seven of his last eight games. On the season, he is batting .246 with three home runs, seven RBI and nine runs scored for the Mets. Being owned in just 33.4 percent of leagues out there. If you need third base and or shortstop help, he can certainly do that. He is already averaging 2.7 fantasy points per game.

Kendall Graveman (SP) – Athletics

Kendall Graveman is yet another young pitcher who has been on the rise for the past few seasons since his debut in 2014. Graveman has been one of the best pitchers in fantasy over the past couple of weeks. He has been on a tear throughout the month of July, throwing four quality starts in as many appearances. He has thrown a quality start in six of his last seven games.

Graveman over the last month or so of action, is ranked in the top 30 in fantasy points for starting pitchers. Averaging over 15 points per start is very promising from the young man during this time. Perhaps, he is finally adjusting fully to the MLB stage which can take some player months, even years to figure out. Showing this type of young prowess should be noted by owners out everywhere.

On the season Graveman is 7-6 and hasn’t lost a start since May 19th. That’s over two months of without a loss and six straight wins for the 25-year-old. He also has 70 strikeouts and an ever declining 4.15 ERA. His ERA was as high as 5.84 this season. He is only owned in 17.7 percent of leagues.

With all of these players recent success and current hot streaks, they should all be worth a pickup if your team is struggling in any facet of the game. All can get you quality points in the upcoming weeks as you ready your teams for playoffs. Look for them on your waiver wire.
