Friday, August 12th has quickly become one of the hottest tickets of the season for the New York Yankees, as it will be Alex Rodriguez’s final game. The Yankees and Rodriguez have agreed to terms that he will be released following the game, and will then sign a new deal as a special instructor.
Shortly after the announcement, ticket prices were on the rise for Friday’s game. The Yankees recently reached an agreement with the ticket resale company Stubhub, which will be the easiest way for fans to see Rodriguez for the final time.
As a resale site, the price will not be cheap to get in the stadium, as the lowest priced ticket is currently going for $80 dollars. By comparison, a fan would be able to get a ticket for Sunday’s game that same weekend for just $10 dollars.
The decision for Rodriguez to play his final game on Friday will wrap up a big weekend in the Bronx, as the Yankees will have their 20th-anniversary celebration for the 1996 World Series Champions on Saturday, and then Mariano Rivera will get his plaque in Monument Park on Sunday.
Prices will likely continue to rise for Friday’s game against the Rays, as if you are a fan of history or Rodriguez, you will want to get your tickets quickly. In addition to StubHub, the Yankees official website still has some tickets available, but expect those to sell quickly as well.
